Karen was born, and raised, in Michigan and began her dental career in 1990 serving in the United States Navy as a dental technician. After many years, she was led to return to school and graduated from Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.
She has a passion for helping patients achieve optimum oral, and overall, health. Continuing education is an important component in her ability to provide the most current advancements in oral health education, and care. After attended a 2-day, 16-hour, course focusing on myofunctional deficiencies, facial asymmetry, and sleep disordered breathing, she realized a critical missing part of comprehensive oral care.
Karen took that knowledge and expanded her level of education into Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and Buteyko Rebreathing Education. Not only has she taken hundreds of hours of continuing education, but she has also taken the extra step and is working towards completing her certification through the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
Karen, and her husband Jason, have two beautiful daughters and are adapting to life as empty nesters on the farm. In her free time, Karen enjoys baking, crafting, painting and spending time on their boat.
