Mouth Breathing

After ruling out allergies, nasal obstruction and muscle low tone, we will help you correct your tongue rest position, swallowing pattern, develop a lip seal and normalize your breathing.

If allergies or a nasal obstruction are suspected, a visit with and ENT of allergist may be in order fro sucsessful remediation of the mouth breathing habit.

If the cause of the open mouth posture is not corrected, the patient may develop a forward head posture, atypical swallowing, a long face syndrome, lack of negative pressure or a vacuum seal of the tongue on the palate and a narrowing of the palate. Malocclusion, SDB (sleep disordered breathing) & OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) may also be present.
